The original Korean webtoon, "The Hellbound," which served as the inspiration for a popular 2021 Netflix series, has received a nomination for the highly esteemed Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, a prestigious accolade in the world of comics.

" The Hellbound vols 1-2" by Yeon Sang-ho and Choi Gyu-seok, with translation by Danny Lim, has been recognized in the category of Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia, according to an announcement made on Comic Con International's homepage on Thursday (local time).

Originally published on Naver Webtoon from 2019 to 2020, the comic series captivated audiences and later spawned the Korean-language Netflix series "Hellbound" in November 2021. The show quickly climbed to the top of the streamer's non-English TV show chart upon its release and is currently in production for its second season.

Yeon Sang-ho, renowned animator and director of the critically acclaimed film "Train to Busan" (2016), joined forces with Choi Gyu-seok, the creator of the popular webtoon "Awl," to craft a gripping narrative that explores social turmoil and unrest triggered by a series of inexplicable supernatural phenomena.
