Agency Announces Intent to Take Action Against Star for Alleged False Reports

Acclaimed actress Koo Hye-sun found herself on the losing end of a lawsuit filed against her former agency, HB Entertainment, which promptly declared its intention to pursue legal measures against the star for what it deemed as false reports and unjust claims.

On Sunday, the Seoul Central District Court dismissed all of Koo's claims in a damages lawsuit she had brought against HB Entertainment. The actress had demanded 107 million won ($83,540) in compensation, alleging that the agency had failed to remunerate her for her appearances on their YouTube channel.

In response to the court's decision, Koo took to her social media platform on Tuesday to express her grievances. She asserted that she had appeared on HB Entertainment's YouTube channel without receiving payment, accused the agency of removing videos featuring her and her pet without consultation, and claimed that the agency had filed criminal complaints against individuals who had offered support as witnesses.

HB Entertainment promptly refuted Koo's allegations in a statement released on the same day. The agency accused the actress of portraying herself as a victim while making false claims.

According to the agency's press release, "The Korea Commercial Arbitration Board and the courts have determined that there are no unpaid fees owed by HB Entertainment to Koo. This case has no connection to non-payment or abuse of power, as Koo contends. Over the years, Koo has consistently made baseless claims that have damaged the reputation and credibility of HB Entertainment. While we initially chose to respond solely through legal channels due to Koo's prior association with us, we can no longer ignore the matter and will take legal action against her false assertions."

Koo, who made her debut in 2002 through a commercial, solidified her acting career with notable appearances in various TV dramas, including the immensely popular KBS series "Boys over Flowers" (2009). She has also ventured into film directing, helming projects such as "Daughter" (2014), "Mystery Pink" (2018), and "Deep Sleep" (2018).

As the legal battle unfolds, Koo's failed lawsuit against her former agency marks a significant setback in her ongoing career, while HB Entertainment aims to address what it perceives as damaging falsehoods through the appropriate legal channels.
