Seventeen, the K-pop boy group, secured six awards at the 38th Japan Gold Disc Awards, as announced by the Record Industry Association of Japan on Tuesday. The annual awards, established in 1987, recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry based on net sales of CDs, music videos, singles, downloads, and streaming.
Expressing gratitude in a press release, Seventeen attributed their success to their devoted fan base, known as Carat, and all music enthusiasts who appreciate their work. The group pledged to continue delivering exceptional music in the future.
Le Sserafim, another K-pop act, took home New Artist of the Year and Best 3 New Artists, joining two other groups, NewJeans and Riize, in this recognition. Le Sserafim made their official debut in Japan with the single "Fearless" in January of the previous year.
In their response, Le Sserafim expressed gratitude for the awards, which they considered a once-in-a-lifetime achievement. They extended thanks to their fanbase, Fearnot, and everyone supporting their music, promising to continue sharing songs with meaningful stories.
NewJeans, yet to debut in Japan, received the Song of the Year by Streaming award for "OMG." The group conveyed their appreciation for the audience's enjoyment of the song, expressing a commitment to delivering improved music in the future.
