French industrial design agency Blanc Tailleur has marked its 30th anniversary with a major international recognition, winning the prestigious Red Dot Design Award for its work on the Monnal TEO hospital ventilator. The Labège-based company, located in the greater Toulouse area, received the award on July 8th in collaboration with Air Liquide Medical Systems for their innovative medical device design.

The Red Dot Design Award, presented annually since 1955 by Germany's Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, represents one of the most coveted honors in the global design industry. Out of more than 18,000 submissions reviewed by 43 international experts, Blanc Tailleur's ventilator design stood out in the "Medical Devices and Technology" category. "This is a global recognition for the first time, but certainly not the last!" emphasized Édouard Bert, CEO of Blanc Tailleur.

The award highlights the comprehensive nature of the company's design approach, encompassing ergonomics, aesthetics, industrial feasibility, and human-machine interface development. "The prize showcases our overall work on ergonomics, aesthetics, industrial feasibility, and human-machine interface. It also demonstrates our ability to be present on demanding and meaningful projects," Bert explained. The award-winning device will be displayed throughout the year at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany.

Since its founding in 1994 by Philippe Blanc Tailleur, the company has built an impressive portfolio of more than 500 industrialized projects and holds 150 patents. With approximately 20 employees and annual revenue of 2 million euros, the firm has established itself as a significant player in France's design market. The company serves both startups and major corporations across diverse sectors including medical technology, transportation, home automation, and robotics.

Édouard Bert, who acquired the company in 2018 alongside two partners Ludwig Katchynsky and Pierre Mazet, has maintained the original philosophy of "accelerating innovative projects, starting from a blank sheet and leading them through to industrialization." This comprehensive approach typically requires between twelve to twenty-four months on average, but has enabled the Toulouse-based firm to access increasingly prestigious opportunities.

Looking toward the future, Blanc Tailleur aims to expand its presence in increasingly innovative markets, particularly within the medical sector, which demands rigorous certifications and compliance with strict standards. "There are significant barriers to entry, but we have been doing this work for a long time," concluded the company president. The firm's international recognition through the Red Dot Award positions it well for continued growth in specialized, high-value design projects across multiple industries.
