Mural Celebrating Women in Public Spaces Takes Shape in Billère

Artist MOG, also known as Marika Gysbers, has been creating a stunning mural in Billère since October 10, painting the portrait of a poet on the facade of a residential building. The artwork is part of a broader initiative to celebrate women's contributions to public spaces and cultural heritage.
The mural features the face of Marie-Laure Grouard (1822-1843), a poet whose name remains largely unknown except to a few specialists in Romantic poetry. Despite her obscurity in contemporary times, Grouard's giant portrait will soon adorn the facade of the Marie-Laure residence in Billère, bringing renewed attention to her literary contributions.
The project represents a significant effort to highlight forgotten female figures in French literary history through public art. By choosing to depict Grouard, MOG is drawing attention to the often-overlooked contributions of women writers from the Romantic period, making their stories visible to a new generation of viewers.
