The city of Würzburg has received two major architectural honors for the successful renovation of the horseshoe-shaped building within the Mozart Complex. The project was awarded both the Bavarian State Prize and the Building Renovation Award 2025, recognizing the exceptional integration of historic preservation, modern architecture, and climate protection measures.

The renovation project represents a remarkable transformation of a protected monument from the 1950s that citizens voted to preserve through a referendum in 2017. The comprehensive restoration took three and a half years to complete and successfully combined the preservation of the building's historical significance with contemporary functionality and environmental sustainability.

The renovated structure now features complete accessibility improvements, energy-efficient systems, and an entirely new utilization concept that serves modern community needs.
