A special exhibition of artists with developmental disabilities, 'Dreamability', kick-off

117 special works will meet the audience until November 27.

A special exhibition of artists with developmental disabilities, 'Dreamability' opened today, November 17, at Design Museum in Seoul Arts Center.

117 works of 80 artists with developmental disabilities and 20 works of well-known domestic artists including Kim in, Haeng-bo Park, Jae-Ok Lee, Chung-Sik Chung, Gi-won Lee, Stony Kang and photographer Yang Jong Hoon welcome the audience.

'Dreamability' is divided into 5 sections. Start with section 1 ‘Finally’, section 2 ‘Here’, section 3 ‘Watching and feeling’, section 4 ‘Dreamability’ and ends with section 5 ‘First step’. The venue of exhibition is seperated, but each section breaks the boundaries with stories of artists.

“When the object that I want to draw come to my mind, I draw it right away. I can finish the paintings in 5-10 minutes. Recently I went to exhibition of Jean Jullian and I loved it,” said Choi Ha Young, who is the artists with developmental disabilities.

“I like singing, dancing and winter. Which is why the horse in my painting dances on the ice which is under the rainbow,” said Kim Hye Yoon, who is the artists with developmental disabilities.

“I’m very happy to be with artists with developmental disabilities because this is not an usual chance for me,” said Jae-Ok Lee, who is an artist participate in 'Dreamability' to support artists with developmental disabilities. “This exhibition is a gift to many people, so I exhibit my new work ‘present’,” she added.

Meanwhile, the opening ceremony was held at 3 p.m. More than 100 artists and their families visited Design Museum to celebrate 'Dreamability'. Also, including Yang changyeong, vice president of the World Federation of Korean Association of Commerce, SooMi Jun, director of Vichaeart Museum, Kim Kyung-hee, president of ARTRIM, Hyoung Joon Chang, president of Seoul Arts Center, Kim Soonok, president of Korea Arts Promotion Agency, and Kim Hyun-il, president of This Abled visited opening ceremony to encourage artists with developmental disabilities and give congratulation messages for their achievement.
