Lee Do-hyun, known for his role in the hit Netflix series “The Glory,” is set to take on a new character in the upcoming JTBC drama “The Good Bad Mother.” Alongside Ra Mi-ran and Ahn Eun-jin, Lee will play the role of Choi Kang-ho, a prosecutor who is transformed into a seven-year-old after an accident.

During an online press conference for “The Good Bad Mother” held on Wednesday, Lee spoke about his new character, stating, “I think my character Kang-ho is completely different from the one I played in ‘The Glory.’ Kang-ho is a very dynamic character and he has elements of being bad too. I guess perhaps that both Kang-ho and Yeo-jeong studied very well is the one commonality.”

Lee admitted that portraying a character with a child-like mentality was a challenge. “Honestly the acting was very hard,” said Lee. “I was worried that my acting as a seven-year-old would come across as too much. So I had a lot of conversations with Ra and the director. I think I became brighter in person while acting someone so young.”

“The Good Bad Mother” follows the story of Kang-ho and his mother, Jin Young-soon, played by Ra, as she faces challenges raising him in a remote village. The drama series, which explores the complex relationships between mothers and their children, is written by screenwriter Bae Se-yeong and directed by Sim Na-yeon.

Ra explained during the press conference that the drama’s title reflects the idea that all mothers have both good and bad qualities. “We judge mothers so much but all mothers in this world are different,” said Ra. “I myself am a person before being a mother. I wanted to tell this story of a ‘bad’ mother to console all types of mothers.”

“The Good Bad Mother” is set to premiere on JTBC on Wednesday at 10:30 p.m.
