German entertainer and jazz pianist Daniel Lindemann, known for his role in "Non Summit" (2014-17), will unveil a new digital single titled "They Smiled" as a tribute to friends lost in Russia's war against Ukraine, according to his agency Drama House Studio.
The composition, featuring a trio of violin, cello, and Lindemann's piano, is a heartfelt endeavor, with Lindemann personally crafting the music. The single is scheduled for release on various music streaming platforms at 6 p.m. Monday.

Expressing the motivation behind the song, Lindemann shared in a press release, "This song was composed to pay tribute to two of my friends who died last year during the Russian-Ukraine war and to my uncle, who died in illness." He further reflected on the positive demeanor of his friends in their final moments, emphasizing the song's intent to convey hope for an end to the war and the prevention of further casualties.
"They Smiled" follows Lindemann's previous single, "Painting with Flowers," released eight months ago. Lindemann has been active in his jazz pianist career since the debut album "Esperance" in 2017, featuring tracks like "Serenade" (2019), "Story" (2020), "Keys to Summer" (2020), and "And She Said Excuse Me" (2022).
A concert titled "Midday Concert III - Daniel Lindemann Quartet Concert" is scheduled at Daegu Eoul Arts Center on Wednesday, showcasing Lindemann's continued contributions to the jazz scene.
Lindemann gained recognition as the German representative on "Non Summit" from 2014 to 2016, a JTBC talk show exploring diverse topics through the perspectives of non-Korean men.
