Seoul History Museum Hosts ′Passion of Seoul′ Exhibition in Almaty

The Seoul History Museum announced on the 28th that it will hold the "Passion of Seoul" exhibition at the Almaty Museum's planning exhibition hall from June 27 to August 20.

This exhibition commemorates the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and Kazakhstan and serves as a reciprocal event following the Almaty Museum's "Pearls of the Great Steppe" exhibition held at the Seoul History Museum in 2022.

The Almaty Museum, opened in 2002, is a prominent city museum in Kazakhstan, housing over 35,000 exhibits that detail the millennium-old history of the Kazakh people.

The "Passion of Seoul" exhibition is divided into three main sections. The first section features artifacts from the Seoul History Museum, including clothing and accessories from the Joseon Dynasty that provide insight into Seoul's historical lifestyle.

The second section showcases graphics, models, and drawings that explain the structure of Hanok, traditional Korean houses, and recreates the Sarangbang, a traditional men's living space.

The third section features seven videos introducing modern Seoul's popular spots such as Bukchon and Euljiro, as well as cultural heritage sites like Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung palaces, highlighting the city's blend of tradition and modernity.

Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1992, Korea and Kazakhstan have maintained cooperative relations in politics, economy, and culture. This exhibition is part of the international exchange between Seoul and Almaty, celebrating their 30-year diplomatic relationship.

Seoul, the capital and largest city of South Korea, has a long history as the nation's center, including during the Joseon Dynasty. The city is known for its harmonious coexistence of traditional palaces and modern skyscrapers.

The exhibition aims to explore the elegance of Seoul's traditional attire and housing, offering visitors a glimpse into the vibrant, contemporary city through various multimedia presentations. Visitors are invited to appreciate the unique blend of tradition and modernity that defines Seoul.
