His work "Black, Something" is a fascinating two-dimensional painting that invites the audience to the inside of the artist, where the desires of the world and absurd reality are hidden behind a curtain of darkness. He explores the order and the nature of the visible and invisible through this work. To him, the canvas becomes a stage for introspection on human existence, relationship with nature, and itself.
The main material of his work is black stone. A symbol of delusional silence, the black stone acts as a psychic conduit connecting generations. To him, the stone is the cornerstone that supports the four walls of the workshop and the guardian deity of the boundary overlooking the sea in front of Dumujin, Baengnyeong Island. This multi-faceted stone is also a paperweight for ink-and-wash paintings on Korean traditional paper, and is the artist's only companion in the market.
