Legendary K-pop girl group 2NE1's recent meeting with Yang Hyun-suk, founder and head producer of YG Entertainment, has fueled speculation of a potential comeback to mark the group's 15th debut anniversary.

According to YG Entertainment, all four members of 2NE1 -- CL, Sandara Park, Park Bom, and Minzy -- convened with Yang for discussions at the agency’s headquarters in Seoul on Thursday. This gathering marked the first time the quartet and Yang had met in eight years.

"The meeting took over two hours, during which they shared meaningful conversation," YG stated in a press release on Friday.

2NE1, who debuted under YG Entertainment in 2009, is renowned for hit songs like “Fire,” “I Don’t Care,” and “Ugly,” and officially disbanded in November 2016, with their last single "Good Bye" released in January 2017.

In April 2022, the group surprised fans by performing as a full unit at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, their first performance together in seven years.

YG mentioned that while a new project is highly possible, no specific plans were finalized during this first meeting in eight years, and they hope to make a positive announcement soon as Yang has a special affection for 2NE1 and the group visited with a request.
