Adapted from a popular webtoon serialized on Naver Webtoon from May 2016 to February 2018, the 12-part drama series garnered praise for its transformation of the webtoon into a captivating fantasy action drama set against the backdrop of the picturesque Jeju Island.
The first part of the series, comprising six episodes, premiered on Tving on December 30. The second part, containing the final six episodes, is scheduled to stream on the platform from February 24.
Following its release on Amazon Prime Video, the first part of "Island" achieved a notable milestone by becoming the first Korean title to enter the top 10 list on Amazon Prime Video in 63 countries as of Sunday, as reported by Tving.
Expressing satisfaction with the global recognition, a Tving official stated, "We are pleased to see that Tving's original content is consistently receiving recognition at prestigious global awards ceremonies. Going beyond creating watchable and trendy contents, we aim to expand the value of the K-content platform by producing blockbuster-level original content that captures the attention of the global fandom."
