Com2uS, the gaming company recognized for the Summoners War franchise, is implementing changes in its business structure to navigate a contracting market, emphasizing the global publishing business for the current year.

The company plans to publish three upcoming mobile games in collaboration with external game developers, deviating from its previous approach of in-house game development.

Facing challenges along with other local game companies due to a market downturn following the Covid-19 pandemic, Com2uS has experienced several rounds of downsizing. The latest move, disclosed on January 18, involves a workforce reduction plan targeting a two-digit number of individuals, aimed at streamlining its developer team.

Senior Vice President Han Ji-hoon of Com2uS's game business group emphasized that the company remains committed to game development, specifically mentioning the ongoing development of the iconic Summoners War and Pro Baseball franchises. However, there is a strategic expansion towards the publishing business.

The three upcoming mobile games include "Frostpunk: Beyond the Ice," developed by Chinese developer NetEase; "BTS Cooking On: TinyTan Restaurant" by Korean company Grampus; and "Starseed: Asnia Trigger" by Korean company Mojito Games.

"Frostpunk: Beyond the Ice" is a dystopian game set in the 19th century, where players make crucial decisions to build and develop a city in an endless winter. Early access to the game will be available in the United States, Britain, and the Philippines from January 31, with a global expansion planned later.

"BTS Cooking On: TinyTan Restaurant" is centered around the intellectual property of the K-pop group BTS. Players engage in cooking and serving diverse menus inspired by BTS songs and characters. The game will open for pre-reservation next month and launch simultaneously overseas in the first half of this year.

"Starseed: Asnia Trigger" is set in a futuristic era where AI poses a threat to humanity. Players take on the role of female warriors to prevent an impending apocalypse. The game is scheduled for release in Korea in the first half of this year, followed by a global expansion.
