The group's name, NEXZ, was conceived by Park Jin-young, JYP Entertainment's chief creative officer. The name signifies "Next Z (Generation)" or "the next generation," conveying the group's mission to "open up the future of a new generation," as stated by the agency.

Ahead of their official debut, NEXZ released the song "Miracle" along with its performance video on Monday. The track served as a mission for the audition show's finalists, and Park Jin-young wrote the song after being inspired by the participants' journey, growth, and shared dreams. "Miracle" is centered around the theme of the keyword "Miracle" itself. The official track was released in both Korean and Japanese on Monday.

This announcement follows JYP Entertainment's successful launch of the girl group NiziU through "Nizi Project Season 1" in 2020. NiziU debuted in December 2020 with their first single, "Step and a Step."
