Webtoon Creator Kang Full Ventures into Screenwriting with Disney+ Action Drama, "Moving"

Korean-Style Superheroes and Familial Bonds Take Center Stage in Upcoming 20-Part Series

Walt Disney Co. Korea

In a groundbreaking foray into screenwriting, esteemed webtoon creator Kang Full is set to captivate audiences with his highly anticipated Disney+ action drama series, "Moving." Drawing from the resounding success of his webtoon of the same name, which garnered over 200 million reads in Korea since its debut on Daum Webtoon in 2015, Kang Full brings Korean-style superheroes and compelling narratives to the small screen.

At a promotional press event held at CGV Yongsan in central Seoul, Kang Full expressed his passion for exploring new dimensions within the superhero genre. With a unique backdrop set against South Korea's divided nation, the screenwriter seeks to introduce audiences to fresh, distinct characters, setting them apart from the iconic Marvel heroes that have become ubiquitous in the genre.

"I envisioned a world where South Korea was home to individuals with extraordinary powers," Kang shared. "The driving force behind these Korean superheroes is not to save the world or a universe based on notions of justice, but rather to protect their families, friends, colleagues, and loved ones. My aim is to evoke a sense of warmth and the timeless values of family through this series."

As a beloved webtoon artist transitioning to the realm of screenwriting, Kang Full embraced the challenge of crafting an "exciting" series for viewers. With an unwavering commitment to entertaining his audience, he considers "Moving" among his most cherished webtoon projects.

Unlike the typical format of Korean drama series limited to 16 episodes or fewer, Kang Full passionately advocated for an expansive 20-part project to bring his vision to life. The series delves into the lives of three high school students in the initial seven episodes, later expanding to explore the captivating tales and struggles of their parents.

Disney+ has announced that the first seven episodes of "Moving" will premiere simultaneously on August 9, followed by a weekly release of two episodes. This highly anticipated 20-part series will be exclusively available on Disney+, promising a gripping and immersive experience for viewers worldwide.

As Kang Full's transition into screenwriting unfolds, audiences eagerly await the unveiling of "Moving," a series poised to redefine the superhero genre with its heartfelt portrayal of Korean-style heroes and the enduring power of familial bonds.
