ILLIT’s new single “You’re Under Arrest” has reached No. 1 on Spotify’s global Top Song Debut chart.
According to the chart released by Spotify on Nov. 3, the title track from the group’s fifth EP, BREAK EVEN, ranked first globally and third in the United States. The ranking covered new releases tracked from Oct. 30 through Nov. 1.
“Pop,” another track from the EP, placed fourth globally and seventh in the United States on the same chart.
The track is based on baile funk, a genre that originated in Brazil. It combines a rhythm-led beat with a melody that changes throughout the song.
Released on Oct. 26, “You’re Under Arrest” surpassed 10 million cumulative Spotify streams within seven days. It is the second-fastest ILLIT song to reach the mark, following the group’s debut single “Magnetic.”
The song entered Apple Music’s Today’s Top 100: Global chart at No. 67 on Oct. 27 and rose to No. 8 by Nov. 2. It also appeared on the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts dated Nov. 7.
“You’re Under Arrest” uses a recurring whistle sound and a strong electronic beat. Its choreography incorporates whistle-blowing gestures and group formations built around synchronised movement.
Related short-form content has also increased since the release. As of 9 a.m. on Nov. 4, more than 340000 TikTok videos had been created using the song.
ILLIT also released a TikTok filter that asks users to classify and rank behaviours that may cause someone to mistake ordinary kindness for romantic interest.
The official English title, “You’re Under Arrest,” is used across ILLIT’s Weverse and promotional content.
