Wavve, the popular local streaming service, announced on Friday the launch of a dedicated section showcasing films from the ongoing 27th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN). This exclusive offering allows subscribers to enjoy online screenings of the diverse range of films being showcased at this year's festival.
BIFAN, which commenced on Thursday, primarily focuses on Korean and international horror, thriller, mystery, and fantasy genres, captivating audiences with its unique selection of films.
Wavve subscribers will have the opportunity to access the same program lineup featured at BIFAN, including films from the international competition, Korean competition, "Adrenaline Ride" for hardcore action enthusiasts, "Merry-Go-Round" for romance fantasy lovers, "XL" for showcasing works by rookie directors, and more. Additional charges may apply, varying by movie.
Starting from Friday and available until July 9, Wavve users can access the BIFAN films through the official Wavve website or mobile app. Once payment is made, viewers will have a 24-hour window to enjoy each film. It's important to note that each film will accommodate a maximum of 500 viewers on a first-come, first-served basis.
Among the ten films competing for the international competition prize are notable titles such as "The Artifice Girl" by Franklin Ritch, "Bad Education" by Kai Ko, "Disorder" by Batdelger Byambasuren, and "Restore Point" by Robert Hloz.
The festival commenced with the much-anticipated opening film, "Beau is Afraid," directed by acclaimed American horror filmmaker Ari Aster. As the festival draws to a close, the 102-minute film "Sana," produced by Japanese director Shimizu Takashi, will captivate audiences with its world premiere as the closing film of BIFAN.
By providing exclusive access to the BIFAN film lineup, Wavve aims to bring the festival experience directly to its subscribers.
