Choi Si-won, a prominent member of the popular K-pop boy band Super Junior, has been appointed as an advisor at the Korea Association Against Drug Abuse, the agency announced on Thursday.

In this significant role, Choi Si-won will actively participate in the association's upcoming events and promotions, lending his influential voice to raise awareness about the dangerous side effects of illegal drugs.

The chairman of the Korea Association Against Drug Abuse, Choi Phil-yeo, emphasized the critical need to address the issue of celebrities and public figures involved in drug abuse, which can inadvertently lead to teenagers imitating such actions, posing a pressing problem in society.

In a press release, Choi Phil-yeo praised Choi Si-won as a "righteous and upright entertainer," expressing gratitude for his dedication to take on the forefront of the battle against illegal drugs.

As the association's newly appointed advisor, Choi Si-won's prominent status as a K-pop star is expected to play a pivotal role in driving the campaign to safeguard the younger generation from the harmful consequences of drug abuse.
