Guer Photography Contest Winner Disqualified, Issues Public Apology

A photography contest winner organized by the University of the Third Age (UTL) in Guer has been disqualified and has issued a public apology following the controversy. The incident has drawn attention to the local community amid significant administrative changes in the region's intercommunal structure.

The disqualification comes at a time when the area is experiencing major restructuring of its intercommunal organizations. Since January 1st, the boundaries of intercommunal cooperation have been completely transformed with the implementation of the new Oust and Brocéliande administrative framework.

This administrative reorganization has created a new large intercommunal entity called Oust à Brocéliande, which resulted from the merger of several communities of communes. The restructuring process has been ongoing, with local officials working to establish new leadership and governance structures.

The mayor of Guer was expected to be elected as president of this new intercommunal organization during a Friday evening meeting. The election was part of establishing the leadership team for the newly formed Oust à Brocéliande intercommunal community.

During the leadership selection process, Malestroit successfully obtained a vice-presidency position within the new administrative structure. This appointment was part of the broader reorganization efforts to distribute leadership roles among the various communities that merged to form the larger entity.

The new leadership team has already begun implementing cost-saving measures, successfully reducing expenses by 100,000 euros. This financial achievement was announced during the Friday evening session when Oust à Brocéliande community officially established its new governing team.

The administrative changes represent a significant shift in how local governance operates in the region, affecting multiple communities and their residents. The merger aims to streamline services and improve efficiency while maintaining local representation through the distributed leadership structure.

The photography contest controversy involving the UTL has added an unexpected element to what has otherwise been a period focused on administrative and political reorganization in the area. The disqualified winner's decision to issue a public apology suggests an attempt to resolve the matter and move forward constructively.

These developments highlight the dynamic nature of local governance and community activities in the region, as both administrative structures and cultural events continue to evolve and adapt to changing circumstances.
