The Le Chambon-sur-Lignon media library is currently hosting an extensive art exhibition featuring approximately forty paintings by Charles Allio, an artist who divides his time between two places that hold special meaning in his heart: Le Chambon-sur-Lignon and Marseille. The comprehensive exhibition, which opened on August 1st, will remain on display for visitors through September 27th, offering art enthusiasts an extended opportunity to appreciate Allio's work.

This marks Charles Allio's return to the local art scene four years after his previous exhibition focused on southern France, which was held at the tourism office. For this new showcase, Allio has chosen the media library as his venue to present what he describes as his "two loves" - the vibrant port city of Marseille, where he spends a significant portion of each year, and the peaceful mountain town of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, which he discovered through his wife and where he now spends four months annually.

Allio's journey into painting came later in life, as he had previously devoted much of his time to sports and music. His artistic inspiration stems directly from his father's influence and legacy. "He always painted in Provence," Allio explains about his father. "He had studied at the Fine Arts school. He was a traditional painter who painted on location. We always had an easel at home."

The artist began working with acrylic paints in the 1990s and has gradually dedicated increasing amounts of time to developing his artistic practice. His creative process reflects the deep connection he feels to both of his beloved locations. "I spend a lot of time on drawing," Allio shares. "I take Le Chambon with me to Marseille and paint it there. When I paint, I am serene, calm, I feel good."

This emotional and geographical duality is evident throughout the forty paintings currently on display at the media library. The works capture the essence of both locations that have shaped Allio's artistic vision - from the Mediterranean coastal beauty of Marseille to the tranquil mountain landscapes of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon. The exhibition not only serves as a visual journey through these two distinct French regions but also offers visitors insight into the artist's personal connection to these places.

For those interested in acquiring Allio's work, all forty paintings in the exhibition are available for purchase, providing collectors and art lovers with the opportunity to own pieces that reflect the artist's passionate dedication to capturing the beauty of his two cherished homes. The extended exhibition period through late September ensures that both locals and tourists visiting the Haute-Loire region will have ample time to experience this celebration of French regional artistry.
