LONDON — As autumn descends on the capital, the global art world prepares to turn its gaze toward London, where Frieze London and Frieze Masters return with renewed ambition. This year’s fairs will take place from October 15 to 19, 2025, in The Regent’s Park. Frieze London will be housed in the southern section of the park with entrance via Park Square West, while Frieze Masters will be located at Gloucester Green on the northeastern side near London Zoo. Complimentary shuttle buses will connect the two sites, ensuring smooth movement for visitors. The fairs open with an invitation-only preview on October 15, followed by members and general admission beginning on October 16. Daily opening hours will run from 11 am, closing at 7 pm on weekdays and Saturday, and at 6 pm on Sunday, October 19. Together, the two fairs are expected to attract more than 70,000 visitors and generate sales surpassing £150 million, reinforcing London’s central role in the international art market.
Frieze London has long been recognized for spotlighting emerging voices beyond the usual Western centers, and this edition will showcase strong representation from Southeast Asia, Africa, Latin America, and East Asia. Several Korean galleries are also set to participate, reflecting the growing international appetite for Korean contemporary art. Among the anticipated highlights is a kinetic light-sculpture by a Korean-born artist who incorporates hanji, or traditional Korean paper, into a modern dialogue with wind and light.
Major galleries are preparing ambitious presentations. Garth Greenan Gallery will present works by Derek Boshier, Rosalyn Drexler, Paul Feeley, Howardena Pindell, and Jaune Quick-to-See Smith. Stephen Friedman Gallery will mount a solo presentation of Sarah Ball, whose new portraits interrogate physiognomy, identity, and the politics of appearance. Blue-chip stalwarts such as Hauser & Wirth, Sadie Coles HQ, Modern Art, and Maureen Paley will also bring significant showcases, some coinciding with their recent London expansions. In the Artist-to-Artist section, Dreamsong will present Ilana Harris-Babou, nominated by Camille Henrot, while Erin Cluley Gallery introduces René Treviño, nominated by Amy Sherald. The Focus section, reserved for galleries under twelve years old, will include first-time participants like Bombon, King’s Leap, Kayokoyuki, Coulisse, Gathering, Eli Kerr, and Cylinder. Other newcomers and returning names include Art Exposure, Champ Lacombe, Galerie Mueller, Galerie Mikael Andersen, Jahn und Jahn, Luisa Strina, Vito Schnabel Gallery, Jonathan Clark Fine Art, Kallos Gallery, Salon 94, and The Weiss Gallery.
The curatorial direction of this year’s edition, “Borders & Belonging,” will shape commissions and discussions across the fairs. Through painting, sculpture, video, and immersive media, artists will explore migration, hybridity, exclusion, and the search for identity and home. Among the headline projects is a large-scale mirrored installation reflecting London’s evolving skyline and an augmented reality work overlaying migration routes across the city. Beyond the booths, Frieze Week will expand across London with curator roundtables on decolonization in museums, artist talks on climate justice and digital aesthetics, and the Frieze Film Festival, which will screen experimental films and documentaries. Satellite project spaces in East London will encourage walking tours, drawing visitors outside the conventional fairgrounds.
Market watchers anticipate robust sales across price brackets, with particular interest in works under $50,000, where demand for younger artists is strongest. Digital and NFT works are also expected to generate buzz, continuing their integration into contemporary collecting practices.
As London readies itself for another Frieze Week, the fair is once again poised to be more than a commercial hub. It will serve as a stage for critical reflection, cross-cultural dialogue, and unexpected encounters, reaffirming its role as one of the defining moments in the global art calendar.
