A new winter exhibition featuring life-size concrete sculptures depicting ordinary people in everyday situations has opened at the Osnabrück Zoo in Germany. The 2025 winter exhibition showcases these remarkable concrete artworks both within the zoo grounds and throughout the historic old town area of Osnabrück.
The sculptures, created to represent "everyday people," capture ordinary individuals in natural poses and situations that visitors encounter in daily life. These concrete figures are positioned strategically throughout both the zoo and the city's historic district, creating an interactive art experience that bridges the gap between public spaces and artistic expression.
According to journalist Jörn Martens, who documented the installation, the sculptures have been placed in various locations to maximize public engagement. The exhibition represents a unique approach to public art, bringing contemporary sculpture directly into spaces where people naturally gather and move through their daily routines.
The winter exhibition is expected to remain on display throughout the season, offering both locals and tourists an opportunity to encounter these thought-provoking artworks. The placement of the sculptures in both the zoo and the old town creates a citywide gallery experience that encourages exploration of different areas of Osnabrück while engaging with contemporary art.
