Estonian furniture manufacturer Silen has launched an innovative new feature called Zen for its Space 1.5 office pod, designed to transform the workspace into a peaceful retreat with the simple touch of a button. The add-on feature aims to support employee wellbeing and enhance focus during solo work sessions in modern office environments.
The Zen mode, activated through a dedicated control panel, creates an immersive wellness experience by making the pod's glass walls opaque, softening the interior lighting, and playing carefully curated soundscapes. The audio experience includes natural forest birdsong and ambient meditation music, designed to promote relaxation and concentration. According to Silen, this feature transforms the office pod into "a space not only for silence, but for presence."
The Space 1.5 office pod itself is constructed from birch plywood and engineered for durability, with the company claiming it will last over 20 years. The pod measures 1,450 x 1,100 x 2,290 millimeters and incorporates acoustic felt panels for superior sound insulation. These panels are made using Seaqual Yarn, an innovative fabric produced from ocean plastic waste, demonstrating the company's commitment to environmental sustainability.
The Zen feature specifically targets the growing need for workplace wellness solutions and longer periods of focused work. By combining visual privacy through opaque glass, ambient lighting, and therapeutic soundscapes, the system creates an environment conducive to both productivity and mental wellbeing. The company emphasizes that this transformation happens instantly with a single touch on the Silen Control Panel.
Silen's innovation reflects the evolving demands of modern office design, where employee wellness and flexible work environments have become increasingly important considerations. The Space 1.5 with Zen represents a fusion of Scandinavian design principles with contemporary workplace psychology, offering a practical solution for companies seeking to improve their employees' work experience and mental health support.
