Originally from Lille in northern France, the 30-year-old artist moved to Cherbourg in 2020 to be closer to her family. From a young age, she had a clear vision of her future: dedicating herself to art and cinema.
Her educational journey reflects this commitment. She took cinema courses in high school, completed a foundation year in applied arts (MANAA), spent three years at the Fine Arts School in Annecy, and finished with two years at the School of Graphic Research (ERG) in Brussels.
Currently working as a sociocultural animator at the MJC de La Brèche community center, Justine also offers artistic workshops with local organizations. She conducts art therapy and positive writing workshops with the association "Vivre son deuil" (Living with Grief), helping people who have lost loved ones cope with their loss.
The Cherbourg resident has always felt particularly sensitive and receptive to cinema and video. This passion, which she pursues alongside her professional activities, represents a complete artistic medium for her, where visual art meets writing. These two dimensions feed her message and shape the emotions she transmits to viewers.
Curious and passionate, Justine has watched and analyzed countless films, exploring the subtleties of this art form in depth: screenplay, aesthetics, editing, and image techniques. Over time, her knowledge has grown richer, her perspective has become more refined, gradually establishing her expertise.
What distinguishes her is her choice to explore both digital tools and analog formats, particularly Super 8 film. In the world of amateur cinema, Super 8 evokes an inimitable nostalgia, a journey through time where memories came to life on silver reels.
Unlike digital media, where you can delete and start over infinitely, every second of Super 8 film is precious. Mistakes, overexposures, and blurs become integral parts of the story being told, providing an authenticity that Instagram filters struggle to reproduce. Its warm grain and timeless aesthetic bring a vintage and poetic touch.
The artist enjoys layering digital images with film, sometimes even scratching the surface to achieve unexpected visual effects. As a filmmaker, she notably created the first music video "Fading Crown" for the band Aside, mixing scenes filmed in Cherbourg on Super 8 with excerpts from old films. She has also produced a clip for the Cherbourg association TKT, as well as a scenographic video for the Parisian lesbian and queer collective Dyketopia, which was selected for one of their events organized in Berlin.
Her creations are infused with her humanist, social, and feminist values, as well as a deep attachment to nature, animals, dreaminess, dreams, the unconscious, and poetry. A great music lover, Justine now wants to put her unique style at the service of local projects, collaborating with bands or associations to create clips, visual content, or stage animations.
