Soda Museum Hosts ′Hello, World!′ Interactive Art Installation

The Soda Museum of Art in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, is hosting a public art project titled 'Hello, world!_Input Your Voice' until September 7, aiming to share the diverse voices of this era with the community.

The exhibition title 'Hello, world!' symbolizes the first output statement in programming languages, akin to a greeting that opens the door to a new world. This participatory exhibition encourages various individuals to contribute their messages to the world, starting with 'Hello, world!'.

Participating artists and architects, including Ground Architects, SOAP, and Practice, have proposed a pavilion structure that allows the public to experience texts.

This pavilion is designed using modular materials that can be assembled and disassembled, ensuring mobility and the potential for expansion into urban spaces. Its open structure allows it to function as a small museum capable of encompassing diverse voices.

The first texts to be displayed in the pavilion will be those of the architects and designers who created it.

Architect Kim Han Joong from Ground Architects suggests two pavilions that transform the cyclical process of assembling and disassembling modular materials into messages from the city's collective and individuals. This approach juxtaposes contrasting structures and communication methods to succinctly reveal the city's cross-section.

Architect Kwon Soonyup from SOAP designs a pavilion in the form of a long tunnel with intersecting 'X' shapes, serving as a billboard while providing a spatial experience for visitors.

Designers Lee Si San and An Seo Hoo from Practice focus on the exhibition space's unique characteristic of preserving nature within a developing urban area. They connect meditative texts of nature with a pavilion that expands sensory experiences of sunlight and wind.

Jang Dong-sun, director of the Soda Museum of Art, stated, "This exhibition is part of the Soda Museum of Art's public art project 'The City is a Museum,' which aims to expand the concept of art, actively communicate with the public, and integrate into daily life."

He added, "We plan to continue this experiment for two years, collecting and displaying various voices for and about the world, respecting each other's diversity, and expanding inclusivity by listening to others' voices."
