EXO’s Kai is set to return as a solo artist for the first time in two years, preparing a new mini-album with a release slated for April.
SM Entertainment confirmed to Dispatch on the 5th, stating, "Kai is currently working on a new mini-album to make a comeback in April. He will be filming the music video for the title track next week. Please look forward to it."
Kai last released solo music in March 2023 with his third mini-album, Rover. The album, featuring his signature sleek performance style, left a strong impact, with the "Rover Challenge" gaining viral popularity on social media platforms.
Shortly after, in May, he enlisted at an army training center, completing five weeks of basic military training before transitioning to 21 months of alternative service as a public service worker. He was officially discharged on February 10.
After his album release, Kai will also challenge himself as an MC for a YouTube web variety show. He will take over as the host of Convict Season 6 (전과자), following Changsub. The new season is set to premiere on the 20th.
Kai’s upcoming comeback marks a highly anticipated return, as fans eagerly await how his signature style will evolve after his military service. With new music and a variety show role on the horizon, his activities are expected to garner significant attention.
