The funeral proceedings for singer Wheesung (43) have been temporarily postponed as his family takes time to grieve. The arrangements will resume once his loved ones are emotionally prepared, according to his agency, Taejo Entertainment.
On March 11, the agency released an official statement, saying, "The bereaved family is in deep shock and sorrow due to the sudden passing of Wheesung, making it difficult to proceed with the funeral at this moment." They added that updates would be provided once further decisions were made.
Meanwhile, the family is in discussions with the police regarding an autopsy. The Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul has requested a forensic examination from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause and time of death.
A representative close to the family stated, "The funeral will proceed once the bereaved family finds some emotional stability. By their wishes, it will be held privately with only close family, relatives, and acquaintances."
In response to circulating speculation, the agency strongly urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified rumors. "We sincerely ask everyone to respect the family's privacy and to avoid making assumptions or sharing unconfirmed information," they emphasized.
Wheesung had been scheduled to hold a concert in Daegu on March 15. However, on the afternoon of March 10, he was found deceased at his residence in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Police found no signs of forced entry or foul play at the scene.
