In 2014, Kim was honored as the fifth recipient of the GALLERY MAC Art Award, a prestigious accolade designed to support emerging and young artists. Winning this award led to his first featured exhibition at the gallery. Over the past decade, despite the challenges of continuing his craft post-college, Kim has consistently produced thought-provoking works and has participated in various exhibitions, solidifying his reputation in the art field.

In his 2014 showcase at GALLERY MAC, Kim juxtaposed the actions of war with the childlike innocence of playing with toys. His sculptures, filled with wit and whimsy, highlighted the absurdity and naivety of war and violence.

This upcoming exhibition acts as an extension of Kim's past narratives, where he aims to provide comfort and evoke nostalgia for the audience through his signature puppet figures.

Kim's art often reflects the interconnectedness of human beings, reminiscent of the intricate workings of gears in a machine. Through his unique process of joining and painting fragmented materials, like toy parts and machine components, he crafts narratives that mirror the complexities of our ecosystem. While he sheds light on the inherent loneliness and isolation felt by modern individuals, Kim paradoxically emphasizes the intrinsic value of human existence.

Furthermore, Kim's decision to pay homage to characters from accessible media sources, like movies and comics, ensures a relatable and light-hearted approach for his viewers. He hopes that by doing so, visitors will feel a closer and more personal connection to his artworks.
