SEOUL, June 19 (SayArt) - To mark the first anniversary of the Blue House opening its doors to the public on June 1, a special exhibition titled "The Story of Our Presidents: There Was a President" is currently taking place in Korea. This unique exhibition aims to provide a glimpse into the lives of past presidents, highlighting the historical significance of the Blue House and fostering a connection with the public.

Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the exhibition will be held in the main building and the Chunchugwan until August 28. It features various props and materials that offer insights into the private lives of the presidents. Additionally, certain sections of the Blue House have been meticulously restored to their original appearance, enabling visitors to experience a glimpse of the past.

Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Park Bo-kyun stressed the importance of the Blue House in history, stating, "For 74 years, the Blue House has served as a stage where successive presidents have shaped the eventful history of the Republic of Korea." He further explained, "Our aim is to depict the moments when they faced challenges and made decisions at the height of their power. Through storytelling, we hope to provide a deeper understanding of our presidents, moving away from simply evaluating their strengths and weaknesses."
The exhibition, currently taking place in the main building of the Blue House, King Sejong, and Inwangsil, begins with symbolic props representing the lives of former presidents. These props are accompanied by a variety of photographic materials, presenting the narrative in an engaging and accessible manner.

As part of the commemorative event, the main building of the Blue House is undergoing restoration work to recreate its former grandeur when it hosted state guests and carried out official duties. Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to witness the unveiling of the red carpet, which was previously protected by a cover carpet. Furthermore, several artworks and installations within the main building have been restored to their original locations, as previously showcased in the media.

A notable highlight is the restoration of the "Geumsugangsando" painting, which had experienced oxidation and darkening of its original gold parts over time. Artist Kim Shik meticulously restored it, bringing back its original golden appearance. Additionally, a 10-sided folding screen calligraphy work by Lee Soo-Deok, which welcomed BTS at Chungmusil, and a platinum mural of 'Hunminjeongeum' will be unveiled.

On the second floor of the Chunchugwan, the former press conference hall, visitors can view household items such as furniture and tableware that have been used in the Blue House for an extended period. This exhibit offers a fresh perspective on the historical aspects of the presidency. Moreover, a visitor participation program is available throughout the exhibition period.
To ensure the safety of visitors and the Blue House facilities, the number of people allowed in the main building is limited to 200. This measure aims to create a more enjoyable and courteous atmosphere for visitors.
