Let’s take a quick look at what’s new this week.
Korean monochrome master Kim Tae-Ho, passed away on October 4 at the age of 75 in Busan. He was born in Busan in 1948, he graduated from Hongik University in Western Painting and later studied at the Graduate School of Education at the same graduate school. He served as a professor of painting at his alma mater until 2016, and participated in 45 solo exhibitions and numerous art fairs until 2021. He was active in various stages not only in Korea but also around the world.
Incheon International Airport Corporation hosted a special media and digital art exhibition ‘Port to the New Era’, alongside Korea Arts Management Service, at Terminals 1 and 2 and the Concourse of Incheon International Airport until October 30. ‘Port to the New Era’ is the first edition of a media and digital art exhibition designed to share an experience with culture and art to travelers passing through the airport.
Piet Mondrian’s Groundbreaking Abstraction is heading to Sotherby’s.
On November 14, Sotheby will bid on a great painting, "The Last Time Composition No. II (1930)" by Piet Mondrian, who developed early paintings of landscapes to geometric abstract works. It's likely that the price will be great as well. which is expected to sell for more than $50 million.
On November 15, Phillips New York will sell two very rare works that Andy Warhol made when he was only 20 years old, at the end of 1948. It is a year before he graduated from college. He created his first self-portrait “Nosepicker” It is estimated to fetch $250,000 to $450,000.
Another of his school artworks is Living Room, painted as an assignment for his major in the field of pictorial design. The assignment was to create an imaginary living space that tells the story of the people who live there. The Living Room is estimated to be worth $300,000 to $500,000.
