Shinsegae, a prominent player in the distribution industry, is set to be honored with the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Commendation on Thursday. The recognition is a result of the company's commendable efforts in sponsoring young artists and fostering the development of arts and culture. Shinsegae is the inaugural recipient from the distribution sector, acknowledged through the "Culture and Arts Funding Business Certification Project," overseen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

Launched in 2015, the project identifies organizations with exemplary arts and culture funding initiatives that yield outstanding outcomes. This year, the addition of the minister's commendation enhances the project's recognition of impactful contributions.

Although Shinsegae has received awards in 2015, 2018, and 2021, this marks the first instance of the franchise being honored with a Ministry of Culture Commendation. The company has been consistently supporting events such as the Gwangju Shinsegae Art Festival, the Young Daegu Artists Exhibition, and the nation's first blind art troupe, "Hanbit Arts."

The accolade underscores Shinsegae's sustained commitment to supporting arts and culture events, as emphasized in a press release on Wednesday. Lee Won-ho, Director of Shinsegae's Corporate Social Responsibility Division, expressed gratitude, stating, "Our efforts to provide artistic inspiration to our customers and expand the value of arts and culture have been rewarded in the form of the first minister's commendation for the industry. We will continue our efforts in supporting regular sponsorships and exhibitions so that even more customers can enjoy arts and culture."
