At the 81st Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California on Monday, Korean American actor Steven Yeun clinched the Best Actor award for his role in the Netflix original "Beef." The series also earned the prestigious title of Best Miniseries or TV Film.
Competing against actors Woody Harrelson, Jon Hamm, Sam Claflin, Matt Bomer, and David Oyelowo in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television, Yeun's win marks a historic moment as the first actor of Korean descent to receive the Best Actor accolade at the Golden Globes.

The series gained significant acclaim, topping Netflix's charts for five consecutive weeks upon its release and receiving positive reviews. At the Golden Globes, "Beef" secured the award for Best Miniseries or TV Film, and Ali Wong was honored with the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television.
With this Golden Globe win, Steven Yeun is now considered a strong contender for the upcoming Emmy Awards. He is nominated for Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series at the 75th Emmy Awards scheduled for January 15 in Los Angeles.
Yeun, also known by his Korean name Yeun Sang-yeop, gained prominence for his role in the AMC television series "The Walking Dead" (2010–2021). His notable filmography includes critically acclaimed works such as "Okja" (2017), "Burning" (2018), and the 2020 drama "Minari," which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Yeun visited Korea in October to attend the Busan International Film Festival.
