Netflix has unveiled the main trailer and a fresh batch of stills for Season 3 of its global phenomenon Squid Game, heightening fan anticipation as the series prepares for its worldwide return on June 27.
The upcoming season picks up with protagonist Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who reenters the deadly games on a personal mission — only to suffer another devastating loss. Now carrying the emotional weight of his friend Deok-su’s death, Gi-hun is shown in the trailer wracked with survivor’s guilt, screaming, “Why didn’t you just kill me? Why was I the only one spared?”
The story also continues to follow the enigmatic Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who once infiltrated the game in disguise. His growing influence and surveillance over Gi-hun suggest a deeper entanglement in the game’s sinister operations. Meanwhile, the fate of key players from past seasons remains uncertain as the trailer hints at the deadly new trials ahead.
Opening with an unsettling version of the Korean children’s song “Knock Knock, Who’s There? It’s a Kid,” the trailer sets a grim tone. The infamous animatronic doll Young-hee makes her return — this time accompanied by a much taller, floral-clad counterpart, signaling even more terrifying variations of the twisted childhood games.
The preview offers glimpses of new environments such as a star-lit alley and a jump rope arena, hinting at fresh and inventive horrors. Contestants old and new display heightened desperation. Geum-ja (Kang Ae-shim) begs for the nightmare to end, while Myeong-gi (Im Si-wan) challenges Jun-hui (Jo Yu-ri) with a biting question: “So what’s your plan? Just sit here and die?”
Gi-hun is seen reclaiming his No. 456 badge and entering the arena in a suit, eventually facing off with the now-unmasked Front Man, who cruelly asks, “Do you still believe in people?”
Several intriguing plotlines are teased: Gyeong-seok (Lee Jin-wook) is shown injured after a failed uprising, his fate unclear. Detective Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun) reappears, examining a familiar game invitation marked with the iconic circle, triangle, and square symbols, hinting at a possible breakthrough in his investigation.
In a final, dramatic moment, No-eul (Park Gyu-young) unmasks a pink-suited guard and points a gun — suggesting a rebellion is brewing inside the ranks.
Squid Game Season 3 promises more psychological tension, moral dilemmas, and nightmarish spectacles as it returns to Netflix on June 27.
