According to SayArt on August 4, the Netmarble Cultural Foundation will convert "Press Start: The Korean PC Game Stage," the first special exhibition at the Netmarble Game Museum, into a permanent exhibition.
The exhibition was created to highlight the historical significance of Korean PC games, which helped establish the foundation of the country's game industry between the console gaming boom of the 1980s and the emergence of online games in the 2000s. It introduces the development of Korean PC games and their role in the industry's growth.
The permanent exhibition restores chronological display panels covering the history of Korean PC games from the 1990s through the 2000s and beyond. Original package editions of representative titles from different periods will also be displayed to illustrate changes in the domestic game market.
Additional displays organized around the themes of people, content, technology, and localization will examine the evolution of Korea's PC game industry. The exhibition explores development environments, technological advances, content production and international expansion through thematic presentations.
The Netmarble Cultural Foundation has also renovated the museum's former library area. By removing movable walls, the space has been reorganized into separate reading and exhibition areas, creating a multifunctional cultural space for visitors.
The Netmarble Game Museum opened in March 2025 at Netmarble G-Tower in Seoul's Guro District. The museum houses approximately 2,000 game-related artifacts collected by Netmarble or donated by citizens and employees, while also offering interactive exhibits that introduce the game development process.
The permanent exhibition is expected to serve as an ongoing introduction to the history and development of Korean PC games. Additional exhibition programs and museum activities are expected to continue in accordance with the museum's operational plans.
