Renowned trot singer Bang Shili, born Bang Young-sun, passed away at the age of 61 on Tuesday, as confirmed by her family. The artist, celebrated for chart-topping songs including "Seoul Tango" and "First Car," breathed her last at a convalescent hospital in the Ganghwa district of Incheon, 27 kilometers west of Seoul, in the morning.

Born in Ganghwa in 1963, Bang made her debut as part of the Seoul Sisters, a female trio, in 1985. Transitioning to a solo career in 1990, she gained widespread popularity with the release of "Seoul Tango" and other hit songs.
The funeral for Bang Shili is scheduled to take place at a Ganghwa hospital on Thursday.
