Twelve students from the Korean language section of the Multilingual Studies Program at Satrinonthaburi School embarked on an enriching cultural field trip to the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) Thailand on September 5. The educational visit provided the students with hands-on opportunities to immerse themselves in various aspects of traditional and contemporary Korean culture.
During their visit, the students explored the "Production Design: Scene Architects Build On-Screen World" exhibition, which was currently being showcased at the Cultural Center. This exhibition offered them insights into the behind-the-scenes world of Korean film and television production, highlighting the creative processes that bring Korean entertainment to life on screen.
The cultural experience extended beyond the exhibition as students actively participated in traditional Korean games and activities. They engaged in classic Korean pastimes including Tuho, a traditional arrow-throwing game, Ddakjichigi, a paper-flipping game similar to the Western game of pogs, and Jegichagi, a traditional Korean footbag game. These interactive activities allowed the students to experience the playful side of Korean culture while developing an appreciation for traditional recreational activities.
The program also included a traditional dress experience where students had the opportunity to try on hanbok, Korea's traditional clothing, and pose for commemorative photographs. This hands-on cultural activity gave the students a tangible connection to Korean heritage and provided them with memorable keepsakes from their visit.
Additionally, the students demonstrated their creativity by participating in a traditional Korean candlestick-making workshop. This craft activity allowed them to create their own cultural artifacts while learning about traditional Korean artisanship and the cultural significance of these decorative items in Korean households and ceremonies.
The Korean Cultural Center expressed their sincere hopes that this comprehensive cultural field trip would create lasting and wonderful memories for all the participating students. The educational visit represents part of the ongoing efforts by Korean Cultural Centers worldwide to promote cross-cultural understanding and appreciation for Korean heritage among international students and communities.
