HYBE has revised the qualifications required to attend BTS member Jin’s hug event following criticism from fans. The event, part of the band’s annual "Festa" celebration, is scheduled for June 13 at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa District, southern Seoul. Originally, fans needed an ARMY membership or to have purchased "Proof" (2022) or any BTS works released after it through Weverse Shop Global during the registration period.

The initial requirement drew criticism from fans who had already purchased recent albums and were unhappy about the need to buy more to register. In response, HYBE updated the criteria: fans who have previously purchased Jin's solo single “The Astronaut” (2022) or BTS’ “Proof” through Weverse Shop Global are now eligible.

The backlash began shortly after the announcement of the original criteria at 11 a.m. on Weverse. HYBE issued an apology later that day, stating, “We apologize for not setting more considerate qualifications in advance.” The revised criteria were posted on Monday, with HYBE reiterating their apology and explaining that the changes were made within the constraints of the current system and schedule.

Fans who met the original criteria remain eligible to register. “Customers who purchased albums after the event should not be disadvantaged,” HYBE stated. Those who own BTS albums released prior to “Proof” but do not own “Proof” or other eligible music remain excluded from the event.

The "2024 Festa," including the hug event, will take place at the Jamsil Sports Complex on June 13 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., featuring various programs and photo zones for fans.

All seven members of BTS are currently completing their mandatory military service. Jin will complete his service on June 12, followed by J-Hope in October and Suga, RM, Jungkook, and Jimin in June 2025.
