In a groundbreaking achievement, K-pop sensation NewJeans has soared to the pinnacle of the music industry, with their latest album "Get Up" securing the top spot on Billboard 200, Billboard's esteemed albums chart. The success marks a historic moment as NewJeans becomes only the second K-pop girl group ever to claim the No. 1 position on the chart, following in the footsteps of Blackpink.

Billboard's latest chart release revealed that "Get Up," the second EP from NewJeans, achieved a staggering 126,500 in sales between July 21 and 27, cementing their place at the summit of Billboard 200. Notably, this is also the first instance of a female Korean artist debuting at No. 1 on this prestigious chart, setting a new precedent in the music industry. Equally impressive is the fact that NewJeans achieved this feat in the shortest span of time for any K-pop band, reflecting the unwavering global support they have garnered.

The trailblazing quintet has also made an indelible mark on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart, with not one, but three of their album's title songs making it to the coveted ranking. "Super Shy," "ETA," and "Cool With You" landed at No. 48, No. 81, and No. 93, respectively, securing a place for NewJeans as the first K-pop girl group to achieve this milestone. The only other Korean artist to have accomplished this feat before NewJeans is BTS, the world's biggest K-pop group.

Even more remarkable is NewJeans' ascent on the Hot 100 with "Super Shy." The single debuted at No. 66 upon its release on July 6, steadily climbing to No. 64 last week, and now reaching an impressive No. 48, marking the highest position any NewJeans song has attained on the chart so far.

Billboard 200 ranks albums based on compiled data of physical album sales, incorporating the streaming counts of individual tracks. "Get Up," featuring six captivating songs, secured its place at the top with the least number of tracks in the history of Billboard 200, making NewJeans' triumph all the more momentous, as stated by its agency, Ador.

Comprising of talented members Minji, Danielle, Hyein, Hyerin, and Hanni, NewJeans burst onto the scene in July 2022 with their debut EP, "New Jeans." Their second album, "Get Up," released on July 21, achieved a remarkable 1.65 million in sales in its first week, solidifying its position as the second-highest-selling girl group album in Korea.

Further elevating their global presence, NewJeans is poised to make history once again as they become the first Korean female group to grace the stage at the prestigious US music festival, Lollapalooza Chicago, where they are scheduled to perform at 5 p.m. on Thursday. The festival appearance stands as a testament to their rising prominence on the international music scene.

As NewJeans continues to make strides in the world of K-pop, their unprecedented achievements on the Billboard charts are testament to their undeniable talent, dedication, and a rapidly growing fanbase that eagerly awaits their next triumph.
