The Korean Cultural Center in Belgium will host a special baroque music concert featuring renowned Korean recorder and traverso player Yeuntae Jung on September 11, 2025, at 8:00 PM. The performance, part of the "KCC On Stage 2025" series showcasing ten Korean performing arts programs, offers free admission with required reservations opening at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, August 19.

Yeuntae Jung has established himself as a distinguished artist in the early music scene following his studies at the University of the Arts (UdK) Berlin. His exceptional talent gained international recognition when he secured second prize at the prestigious International Competition Musica Antiqua 2017 in Bruges, followed by triple awards at the 3rd International Berlin Bach Competition in 2018. These achievements launched his career as a sought-after performer in Europe's baroque music circles.

The Korean musician regularly collaborates with renowned period instrument ensembles including AKAMUS (Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin), Lautten Compagney, and the nuri collective. As a soloist, Jung has performed with major orchestras, including a notable appearance with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra under the direction of acclaimed baroque violin master Enrico Onofri.

For this Belgian concert, Jung will be joined by an exceptional ensemble of period instrument specialists. The program will feature violinist Han Sol Lee Eo, gambist Thomas Fields, and harpsichordist Tung-Han Hu, together presenting the delicate and expressive timbres characteristic of authentic baroque performance practice.

The evening's repertoire showcases masterworks from the baroque era, beginning with Johann Sebastian Bach's Trio Sonata in F major (adapted from Organ Trio Sonata in C major), BWV 529 for recorder, violin and basso continuo. The program continues with Wilhelm Friedemann Bach's Sonata in E minor, BR WFB B17 for traverso and basso continuo, and Georg Philipp Telemann's Trio Sonata in F major, TWV 42:F3 for recorder, viola da gamba and basso continuo.

Additional highlights include selections from Johann Sebastian Bach's Prelude, Fugue and Allegro in E-flat major, BWV 998, Johann Christian Bach's Trio in C major for traverso, violin and cello, and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's Trio Sonata in G major, H. 583 for traverso, violin and basso continuo.

Violinist Han Sol Lee Eo brings impressive credentials to the collaboration, having completed her diploma and master's degree with distinction at UdK Berlin. Since 2015, she has enhanced her expertise through masterclasses and projects with legendary baroque specialists including Sigiswald Kuijken, Florence Malgoire, and Enrico Onofri. Her achievements include first prize at the International Johann Heinrich Schmelzer Competition in 2024 and the Jury Prize at the International Competition for Early Music Yamanashi in 2016. Beyond performing, she actively works as a cultural producer, exploring diverse repertoires and facilitating musical projects between Europe and Korea.

Gambist Thomas Fields made history as the first viola da gamba player to win first prize at the 13th International Telemann Competition in 2025. His performances span Europe and North America, with appearances at prestigious festivals including the Utrecht Early Music Festival and the Heinrich Schütz Music Festival. With his ensemble False Consonance, Fields earned the title Rheinsberger Hofkapelle in 2024 and served as Ensemble-in-Residence at the historic Rheinsberg Palace during the 2024/2025 season.

Completing the ensemble, harpsichordist Tung-Han Hu studied at both UdK Berlin and the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. His competition victories include international contests in Magdeburg, Göttingen, and Leipzig. Hu's concert appearances have taken him to major events such as the Bachfest Leipzig, festivals in Bruges, and the Collection of Historical Keyboard Instruments in Bad Krozingen. Since the winter semester of 2022/2023, he has served as harpsichord accompanist at the Institute for Early Music at UdK Berlin.

This concert represents a significant cultural exchange opportunity, bringing together Korean and international artists to revive the sophisticated musical traditions of the baroque period. The performance promises to showcase the technical mastery and artistic sensitivity required for authentic period instrument performance, offering audiences an immersive experience in historical musical practices.
