K-Culture Festival Eve at Gyeongbok Palace

A 9-day journey will unfold in Gwanghwamun and Jamsil until October 8.

A day before K-Culture Festival, event of eve was held at Gyeongbokgung Heungnyemun Gate Plaza today, which is hosted by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST).

To awaken new meaning and value of K-Culture, under the theme of ‘Blossoming the Future of Korean Culture at the Palace’, K-Culture Festival Eve opened with perfomance by daeguem player Lee Juhang and Korean traditional music fusion band Hae:um. (Daeguem is one of Korean traditional woodwind instrument.)

Painting performance of Suk Changwoo, who is a painter with a prosthetic arm, heated up the Palace. Audiences were captivated by the ink croquis.

Lastly, theme concert was performed with various artists to deliver the integration of traditional and modern culture of Korea.

During the ceremony, director of MCST Content Policy Bureau Jaehyun Kim participated with Kil Hwa Jung, who is president of Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, Ludovic GUILLOT director of French Language Center of The French Embassy in Korea and Lee Seung-min, a golfer who became the first champion at the 'U.S. Adaptive Open' in July 2022.

“Trough K-Culture Festival Eve Conveys the message of a new Korean that will reach out to the world by bridging the past and the present, by expanding the brilliance of Korean culture and lastly, by converging both traditional and modern culture,” said MCST.

Starting with today, a 9-day journey will unfold in Gwanghwamun and Jamsil until October 8.
