In a thrilling announcement that has sent waves of excitement through both the K-Pop and business communities, popular South Korean groups StayC and Kard have been named honorary ambassadors for the highly anticipated Korea Brand and Entertainment Expo 2023. The Expo, organized by various government ministries and state-run agencies, including the prestigious Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), is slated to begin on June 29 and will be held over two days at the renowned Messe Frankfurt exhibition center in Germany.
Marking the commencement of their ambassadorship, members of Kard and StayC gathered at KOTRA's headquarters in Seoul's bustling Seocho-gu for a momentous appointment ceremony on Monday. The CEO of KOTRA, Mr. Yu Jeong-yeol, presented the groups with certificates, emphasizing that their appointment was a strategic move to promote South Korean companies and their exceptional products in Europe while fostering stronger ties between South Korea and Germany.
"As a global group, we have always felt a great responsibility in promoting Korean culture, music, and food, and we hope to take this opportunity to help spread them even more," expressed BM, the charismatic leader of Kard.
Sharing his enthusiasm, StayC's Se-eun chimed in, saying, "We are already excited to meet our German fans. As ambassadors, we will work hard to support local firms on their foray overseas."
Debuting under DSP Media in 2017, Kard, a captivating co-ed quartet, has gained a massive international following with their unique style and infectious moombahton sounds. In May, the group triumphantly returned with their sixth EP, titled "Icky," swiftly claiming the top spot on the iTunes top song charts in 12 countries, including Germany and the Netherlands. Anticipation for Kard's upcoming world tour, scheduled to kick off next month, is palpable among their devoted fans.
On the other hand, StayC, a talented six-member girl group, has been on a chart-topping streak since their much-anticipated debut in 2020. Carving out their own musical niche, dubbed "teen fresh" pop, StayC has unveiled a series of smash hits that have captivated audiences. As the group gears up for their highly anticipated comeback in August, their role as honorary ambassadors of the Korean expo in Frankfurt will undoubtedly amplify their international presence.
In their capacity as ambassadors, both StayC and Kard will set the stage ablaze with their performances at the Expo's grand opening ceremony on June 29. Moreover, they will spearhead an array of captivating promotional programs throughout the two-day event, further enhancing the Expo's appeal and fostering cultural exchange.
The upcoming trade fair is set to host around 120 prominent companies hailing from diverse sectors, including consumer goods, services, and high-tech industries. For these local firms, the government-hosted event will serve as a crucial platform to showcase their offerings, establish new sales channels, and tap into the potential of the German and wider European markets.
The Korea Brand and Entertainment Expo 2023 promises to be an extraordinary occasion where the vibrancy of K-Pop and the excellence of Korean industries converge. StayC and Kard, as honorary ambassadors, are set to infuse the event with their unique talents and further solidify the bridge between South Korea and Germany, promoting bilateral cooperation in the realms of business and entertainment.
