Jungkook, a prominent member of the internationally acclaimed group BTS, is set to make his official solo debut next month with the highly anticipated digital single titled "Seven." The artist shared the exciting news through Weverse, a global fandom communication platform, on Friday, revealing that the single will be released on July 14 at 1 p.m.
"Seven" promises to captivate listeners with its rhythmic composition, perfectly suited for the vibrant summer season, as stated by Big Hit Music, the agency representing BTS. Jungkook's solo debut marks a significant milestone for the talented artist, following the footsteps of his fellow bandmates J-Hope, Jin, RM, Jimin, and Suga, who have all ventured into solo projects.
This series of individual endeavors by the BTS members comes in the wake of the group's announced hiatus in June of last year, allowing each member to explore their creative pursuits and fulfill mandatory military service obligations.
Prior to his official solo debut, Jungkook impressed audiences with his contribution to the Official Soundtrack of the Qatar World Cup, releasing the song "Dreamers." The track achieved remarkable success, debuting on Spotify's Daily Viral Song chart in all 73 countries. Jungkook's achievement also placed him alongside Japanese singer Fujii Kaze as the only Asian musicians to attain this milestone.
Furthermore, Jungkook made waves with his collaboration alongside American pop musician Charlie Puth on the chart-topping single "Left & Right" in June of the previous year. The song garnered significant recognition, securing a spot on Billboard's list of the 17 biggest collaborations of the year. "Left & Right" made its mark on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, debuting at No. 22 and remaining on the chart for an impressive 17 consecutive weeks.
Jungkook's solo success continued with his first solo Billboard Hot 100 debut in February 2022 with the song "Stay Alive," part of the original soundtrack for the webtoon series "7 Fates: Chakho," featuring BTS members. Produced by BTS' Suga and performed by Jungkook, the track entered the Billboard singles chart at No. 95.
Demonstrating his immense popularity and influence, Jungkook achieved a remarkable feat in May by setting a Guinness World Record for accumulating a billion streams on Spotify. This extraordinary accomplishment solidified his status as the fastest K-pop male solo artist to achieve such an impressive streaming milestone.
