Renowned soprano Jo Su-mi is set to embark on a five-city tour in South Korea in June, featuring a program of Korean art songs and modern pop elements from her latest album "In Love: Korean Love Poems." The tour will kick off at the Gongju Culture and Art Center on June 8 and continue through Dangjin, Ulsan, Seongnam, and Cheongju, before concluding with a concert in Seoul in July.
Jo, who has released more than 40 albums since her European operatic debut in 1986, will be joined on stage by tenor Kim Hyun-soo of the quartet Forte di Quattro, and Park Soo-ah, haegeum section leader at the Incheon Gugak Orchestra. The Millennial Symphony Orchestra, led by conductor Choi Young-sun, will also participate in the tour.

According to SMI Entertainment, the tour will highlight Jo's latest album, which features a collection of love-themed songs. The program will also include notable songs from the album, such as "First Love" and "No Flower Blooms Without Wavering," which will be performed as a duet with Kim and accompanied by Park on haegeum.
Tickets for the "2023 Jo Sumi Concert: In Love" can be purchased on Interpark, with prices ranging from 77,000 won to 143,000 won. Jo's concert with the 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at Lotte Concert Hall in Seoul on July 6 has also been announced, although further details are yet to be released.
Throughout her career, Jo has received numerous accolades, including the International Puccini Award in 2008 and a Grammy Award in 1993 for best opera recording. Her upcoming tour promises to showcase her exceptional talent and versatility, blending traditional Korean music with contemporary pop elements.
