A new five-star sustainable wellness resort has opened on a private five-hectare island along the Thu Bon River, less than two kilometers from Hoi An Ancient Town in Vietnam. The Namia River Retreat, designed by T3 Architects in collaboration with LJ-Group Landscape Architecture, represents a harmonious blend of contemporary hospitality design and traditional Vietnamese cultural heritage.
The 44,000 square meter project, completed in 2025, was conceived as a luxury retreat that honors the identity of Quang Nam Province, a UNESCO World Heritage region where nature, history, and craftsmanship coexist in perfect harmony. The design team, led by architects Pedro Pedalino and Daniel Alonso, along with Vietnamese architects Phuong Nguyen, Huy Truong, Kha Pham, Ho Gia Luan, and Quy Le, drew inspiration from the area's protected status and emphasized the preservation of local character while creating a contemporary space for rest and renewal.
Set within a landscape of tropical abundance and cultural depth, the resort demonstrates a commitment to ecological integrity and sustainable tourism practices. The architects worked closely with various specialists including Lumina Wellbeing as the operator and project management team, LifeStyle Connected and Florence Mussou as interior design and art direction consultants, and Kobi Lighting Studio for specialized lighting design.
The engineering and consulting aspects of the project were handled by multiple firms, with Indochina EC providing structural engineering services and Tran Duc Homes managing services engineering and consulting. The construction utilized materials from specialized manufacturers including DASSO and TDT Danang GRC, ensuring both quality and sustainability throughout the development.
Photography of the completed resort was captured by renowned photographers Trieu Chien and Truong Nhat Huy, showcasing the seamless integration of the resort's architecture with its natural island setting. The project stands as a testament to Vietnam's growing reputation as a destination for luxury eco-tourism and sustainable hospitality design.
The Namia River Retreat represents more than just a luxury accommodation; it serves as a model for how contemporary hospitality projects can respect and celebrate local heritage while meeting international standards for sustainable tourism. Its location near the historic Hoi An Ancient Town provides guests with easy access to one of Vietnam's most culturally significant destinations while offering a private retreat surrounded by the natural beauty of the Thu Bon River ecosystem.
