Laura Quéro-Lorcy, a 22-year-old artist from Lécousse, has been commissioned by her local municipality to create a new mural, marking another significant milestone in her emerging career. The commission comes from the town's Quality of Life Committee, presenting a fresh challenge for the young artist who has already made her mark in the community.

This latest project follows Quéro-Lorcy's successful completion of a monumental mural that she created voluntarily under the ring road bridge on République Road in Lécousse, Ille-et-Vilaine, which was finished in September 2024. The new commission represents a step forward in her professional career, as it marks her first paid municipal project.

Mayor Anne Perrin of Lécousse, along with the Quality of Life Committee, specifically requested the transformation of a raw concrete wall located below the Irène Frain space that leads to the town's library. "The goal is to transform this concrete wall into a dynamic visual anchor point that will invite the public to walk through the doors of the library," Quéro-Lorcy explained. The choice of a mural came naturally, as officials wanted an artwork that would catch the eye while embodying the spirit of the place as a space for culture, sharing, and creativity.

Quéro-Lorcy brings impressive educational credentials to the project. She completed her bachelor's degree at LISAA school in Nantes, where she studied graphic design with a focus on digital media. After taking a gap year, the young artist returned to school in September 2024, enrolling at the French School of Decoration in Nantes to deepen her traditional technical skills, including trompe-l'oeil, faux wood, and faux marble techniques.

Now entering the job market, Quéro-Lorcy expresses enthusiasm for her outdoor work. "I love working outdoors. This new mural is an opportunity for me, especially in Lécousse, where they trust me. I'm going to live up to expectations," she said. The artist sees this commission as both a professional opportunity and a chance to contribute meaningfully to her community.

The municipality provided specific guidelines for the artwork, requiring that it illustrate the power of reading and culture to broaden horizons and nourish imagination. The mural must also reflect the library's role as an intergenerational space designed to serve as a meeting place for dialogue and knowledge transmission between different age groups.

The completed mural can be viewed at 1 Rue de la Basse Porte, strategically positioned between the Irène Frain space and the Lécousse library. This location ensures maximum visibility for visitors approaching the cultural facilities, fulfilling the municipality's vision of creating an inviting entrance that draws people toward the library and its resources.
