The Korean Cultural Centre UK successfully organized a comprehensive two-day K-Beauty makeup workshop on October 16 and 17, featuring hands-on instruction from leading Korean makeup professionals. The "K-Beauty Makeup Class on Tour" attracted enthusiastic participation from London residents eager to learn about Korean beauty culture's creative techniques and aesthetic principles.
Dr. Seunghye Sun, Director of the Korean Cultural Centre UK, emphasized the deeper cultural significance of the program during the event. "K-Beauty is not simply a makeup style; it is a cultural expression shaped by Korean aesthetics," Sun explained. "Its refined sense of beauty resonates internationally. Through this workshop, we hoped participants in the UK could experience the sensibility, elegance and artistic philosophy embedded in Korean beauty."
The workshop highlighted how K-Beauty has evolved beyond basic cosmetic techniques to become a significant cultural export representing Korea's sophisticated aesthetic values and contemporary lifestyle. Built around core principles of natural harmony and respect for individual identity, K-Beauty continues gaining global recognition, particularly among younger demographics worldwide.
Two distinguished artists from Amorepacific led the educational sessions, bringing their extensive professional experience to London participants. Jin-su Lee, Master Makeup Artist at HERA, is renowned for developing the brand's signature concepts and current trends. Lee has authored "Makeup Eyes," previously served as Head Makeup Director for Project Runway Korea, and currently judges the Coupang Play series "Just Makeup." His colleague, Woo Soo-hyun, brings comprehensive expertise from editorial, brand, and educational makeup settings.
The comprehensive program included multiple learning components designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Participants received an introduction to Korean beauty culture and foundational makeup theory, followed by personal color analysis and specialized application techniques. The hands-on practice sessions allowed attendees to explore current K-Beauty trends while receiving individualized feedback from the professional instructors.
Participants discovered styling methods based on personal color analysis, with artists providing tailored guidance to help each person identify techniques that best complemented their individual features. Many attendees expressed appreciation for the opportunity to experience what they described as an art form infused with cultural philosophy, rather than simply following beauty trends.
The Korean Cultural Centre UK offered the workshop free of charge as part of their community outreach efforts. All participants received complimentary gifts and had opportunities to try K-Beauty products provided by various Korean brands. The event served as an accessible introduction to Korean culture through the lens of beauty and personal expression.
This London workshop was presented under the "Touring K-Arts" initiative, a global cultural exchange program supported by South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism alongside the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange. The Touring K-Arts program brings Korean cultural professionals to international communities, enabling direct encounters between local participants and authentic Korean artistic content. Through such programs, the initiative continues showcasing the creativity and artistic value of Korea's beauty industry on the international stage.
