The Korean Cultural Center of Washington DC (KCCDC) will present Korea Week 2025 at the University of Notre Dame from October 8-11, featuring a comprehensive celebration of Korean craftsmanship and language that marks the 579th anniversary of Hangul Day, also known as Korean Alphabet Day. The event represents a collaborative effort between the KCCDC, the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, and the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures.
Korea Week 2025 promises to deliver a dynamic array of programming that showcases both traditional and contemporary aspects of Korean culture. The festivities will highlight the beauty and excellence of Korean traditional arts while providing attendees with immersive cultural experiences. The week-long celebration aims to demonstrate Korea's rich heritage through multiple artistic mediums and cultural expressions.
Among the featured attractions, attendees can look forward to a live K-pop concert that will bring contemporary Korean music to the Notre Dame campus. Additionally, a K-food truck will be stationed throughout the event, offering visitors the opportunity to sample authentic Korean street food and experience the diverse flavors of Korean cuisine. These modern elements will complement the traditional craft demonstrations and cultural exhibitions planned for the week.
The event will take place at the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, located in the Jenkins Nanovic Halls at 2150 Jenkins Nanovic Halls, Notre Dame, Indiana 46556. The programming is designed to allow participants to experience Korea's cultural evolution from past to present through various mediums including music, food, art, and language instruction.
Korea Week 2025 benefits from extensive institutional support and collaboration. In addition to the primary partnership between the KCCDC and the Liu Institute for Asia and Asian Studies, the event receives sponsorship from multiple campus organizations including the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures, the Browning Cinema at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center, and the St. Joseph County Public Library. This broad-based support ensures comprehensive programming and resources for attendees throughout the four-day celebration.
