The monthly photography contest from the ComputerBase community is moving into its next round, with November 2025 focusing on submissions featuring the theme of "Three." As with previous months, photographers can submit their entries until the 20th day of the month, after which community voting will begin.
The October contest embraced the seasonal spirit with a theme centered around scary, creepy, and eerie imagery. A total of 17 photographs were submitted, with community member leboef's entry capturing 58 percent of participants' votes during the voting process. The winning black-and-white photograph depicted bare trees on marshy, wet ground, creating a haunting and oppressive atmosphere that perfectly matched the Halloween season's requirements.
Following traditional contest rules, leboef's victory grants them the privilege of selecting the theme for the following month's competition. The winning photographer has chosen "Three" as the abstract theme for November, offering participants considerable creative freedom in their interpretations. According to leboef, there are no specific restrictions on how the concept should be approached, whether through "the claws of three-toed sloths, triangles, or the number 3 itself implemented aesthetically."
The key requirement is that the number three must have some form of significance within the photograph's composition or subject matter. This open-ended approach allows photographers to explore various creative interpretations, from literal representations of the numeral to more abstract concepts involving groups of three objects, triangular shapes, or any other artistic interpretation that incorporates the theme.
Interested community members have until November 20, 2025, at 11:59 PM to submit one photograph in JPEG or PNG format via email to contest initiator lowrider20, along with their ComputerBase forum username. Participation is limited to one personally captured photograph per registered community member, and submissions must be original work that has not been previously entered in any ComputerBase photography contest or published elsewhere on the forum.
The contest maintains strict guidelines to ensure fairness and authenticity. Photographs featuring the same subject from slightly different perspectives as previously published images are not permitted. Additionally, drawings, paintings, AI-generated images, and digital renderings are strictly prohibited. Once submitted, photographs cannot be exchanged or replaced, emphasizing the importance of careful selection before submission.
After the submission deadline passes, a nine-day voting period will commence for all entries, with a maximum of 40 photographs accepted based on submission order. All forum users with active accounts are eligible to participate in the voting process. To maintain photographer anonymity during voting, all images are resized to a maximum of 3,840 pixels in height and width, and EXIF data is completely removed.
The contest winner, determined at the end of the month, will receive the honor of selecting the theme for the following month's competition, continuing the community-driven tradition that keeps the contest fresh and engaging. Looking ahead, ComputerBase is planning to introduce a new "ComputerBase Forum Photo Challenge" as a complement to the existing monthly photography contest.
This upcoming challenge will invite community members to submit theme suggestions throughout November, with voting on proposed topics scheduled for December. The new format is specifically designed to be inclusive, welcoming not only professional photographers and serious hobbyists with full-frame cameras and interchangeable lenses, but also amateur photographers and casual smartphone users who want to participate in the community's creative activities.
