The World Food Programme (WFP), the world's largest humanitarian organization and 2020 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, is currently recruiting a Graphic Designer to join its Partnerships Visibility Team within the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Division. This fully remote position offers an 11-month contract working in the Rome, Italy time zone, with an application deadline of November 3, 2025.
The role presents a unique opportunity to contribute creative expertise to one of the UN's most impactful global missions - ending hunger and improving lives through effective visual communication. WFP assists over 120 million people annually across more than 120 countries, providing food assistance in emergencies and supporting communities in building long-term resilience. The organization operates thousands of trucks, ships, and aircraft daily to deliver aid where it is needed most.
WFP's Private Sector Partnerships Division plays a central role in mobilizing resources and building strategic alliances with corporations, foundations, and individuals. By engaging private partners, WFP aims to drive innovation, increase visibility, and generate sustainable funding to achieve its humanitarian goals.
The selected Graphic Designer will lead the creation and enhancement of high-quality visual materials to support WFP's private sector partnerships and fundraising strategy. Reporting to the Editorial Communications Officer, the designer will deliver compelling, brand-consistent creative content across digital and print platforms to inspire support, strengthen partnerships, and showcase WFP's impact.
Key responsibilities include leading the design and production of pitch decks, campaign materials, and marketing assets in line with WFP's brand identity. The role requires ensuring a unified and professional visual language across all products, from donor presentations to digital campaigns, while collaborating with PSP leadership to revise and update existing materials for visual consistency and quality.
Campaign development forms another crucial aspect of the position. The designer will create original campaign visuals, infographics, and layouts for WFP's website, social media channels, and partner platforms. This includes designing creative assets such as icons, illustrations, templates, and partnership toolkits tailored to specific audiences, as well as contributing to major global initiatives such as World Food Day, emergency response campaigns, and strategic events.
The position also involves audiovisual and multimedia work, supporting the production and editing of audiovisual content that highlights WFP's collaboration with private sector partners. The designer will enhance visual storytelling by integrating design elements into videos and digital features while working closely with writers, communications specialists, and technical teams to align creative outputs with messaging objectives.
Qualifications include a university degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Multimedia Design, or a related field, or a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience. Candidates must have at least five years of professional experience in graphic design, preferably in international organizations, media agencies, or global nonprofits, with proven experience in translating complex data and concepts into visually compelling graphics and infographics.
Technical requirements include advanced command of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), experience with PowerPoint and online design tools such as Canva, and strong data visualization skills with the ability to simplify technical or analytical content. Video editing skills for social media content are considered an asset.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong creative vision with meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational and time-management abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. A collaborative and inclusive work ethic with the ability to work effectively across cultures is essential, along with a problem-solving mindset and adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required, while working knowledge of another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an asset. The position offers the opportunity to be part of a mission-driven organization that directly impacts millions of lives, working in a diverse, inclusive, and global environment that values creativity and innovation.
The contract is structured as a Regular Consultant (CST-I, 80% time) position for 11 months, fully remote but based in Rome, Italy time zone. WFP promotes a culture of inclusion and equal opportunity, with all employment decisions based on merit, qualifications, and organizational needs. The organization maintains a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, sexual exploitation, and discrimination.
